THEY WON'T LISTEN - SEND SOMEONE ELSE (Exod. 4:1–17)

Updated: Mar 17

There’s a particular kind of leadership our world celebrates: the person who wants the microphone, who knows they’re the answer, who walks into the room already convinced they should be in charge.

But Scripture often introduces leaders in almost the opposite way.

In Exodus 4:1–17, Moses stands where many of us stand: called by God, yet full of “what ifs.” What if they don’t believe me? What if I’m not able? What if I fail? The Lord answers Moses’ fears with both power and presence. He gives signs to confirm His word, and He reminds Moses that the God who made the mouth is able to help His servant speak. When Moses pleads again to be excused, God’s anger is real—yet His mercy is greater. The mission is not canceled; help is provided. Aaron will speak, but Moses must still go.

This passage teaches us that God does not call the qualified; He qualifies the called. Our weakness is not a dealbreaker, it is the stage on which God’s strength is displayed.
